На Червения площад в Москва приключи празничния парад, на който присъстваха повече от 14000 души, около 100 единици оръжие и военно оборудване. Поканени на парада са 1 500 ветерани от Втората световна война. Парадът за Деня на победата по традиция започна в 10:00 ч. (московско вриме) и продължи около един час. This is the parade in Moscow's Red Square, devoted to the 67th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, 7 November, 1984. 1984, popularly known as the infamous "George Orwell year" after the book he wrote of the same year, and this parade being the final October Revolution parade taking place with the "old" Communist leaders in the Soviet Union (that is before Gorbachev's ascension to leadership in the following year), perhaps makes this the most popularly watched Soviet Red Square parade. The year 1984 was arguably seen as the final apex of Soviet society before drastic changes and extreme deterioration occured in the coming years. Exasperated Cold War tensions which began at the beginning of the decade would continue in 1984; in retaliation for the 1980 Moscow summer olympic games boycott, the USSR boycotted the Los Angeles 1984 summer olympiad. US President Ronald Reagan was also re-elected for a second term in the USA on the day of this parade. For this parade, a very sickly Konstantin Chernenko is seen on the tribune during this parade. Minister of Defense & Marshal of the Soviet Union, Dmitriy Ustinov, was supposed to appear at this parade (it surprised Soviet television viewers that he did not) for the inspection tour of the troops and the speech on Lenin's Mausoleum. However he became ill shortly before this parade (he would later pass away on December 20th), and First Deputy Defense Minister of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union Sergei Sokolov ...
