This is G. Edward Griffin's shocking video interview, Soviet Subversion of the Free-World Press (1984), where he interviews ex-KGB officer and Soviet defector Yuri Bezmenov who decided to openly reveal KGB's subversive tactics against western society as a whole. Bezmenov explains how Jewish Marxist ideology is destabilizing the economy and purposefully pushing the US into numerous crises so that a "Big Brother" tyranny can be put into place in Washington, how most Americans don't even realize that they are under attack, and that normal parliamentary procedures will not alter the federal government's direction. www.euronews.com Norouz, the Persian New Year, was celebrated this year on 21st March. In Tajikistan people celebrated with traditional music and parades. The day centres around spending time with family and enjoying eating special food together. The crowd turns out in special costumes. Everyone dances, sings and visits relatives in the villages, and goes to the mountains to pick flowers. The party normally lasts for four days. Norouz is a time of renewal and optimism for the future. People spring clean their houses and turn out in their best clothes. Special foods include samanu - a sweet pudding made from wheat germ, symbolizing affluence. During the Soviet era, Norouz was banned, and people punished for celebrating it. Mr Janibek Asrorian, Cultural Expert in Dushanbe, said: "In the 1930s when the intellectual classes were eliminated, our old calendar disappeared. The Soviet government completely banned Norouz thinking it was a religious ceremony. They didn't believe that it was just a traditional human celebration. "It is very important that the intellectual and cultural leaders of Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan cooperate in order to promote Norouz. We also have to include Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, because they were also part of the Persian Empire. Given the message of Norouz, I think it can spread to other countries promoting unity and solidarity among all people," added Asrorian. November 1998 Throughout the cold-war the Kamchatka peninsula was home to the Soviet empire's nuclear powered fleet. Even Soviet citizens needed special permits to visit here. But today the military enclave is largely redundant. And for the people that used to work there, there's not much left to do. The grey concrete town is now a desolate Place full of deserted flats. Yet the Soviet secrecy surrounding Kamchatka could now be its salvation. With its 29 active volcanoes the land steams and belches super-heated water and mud. It's a landscape that's a veritable eco-tourism paradise. And it's this vision that cheers Vice Governor Vladmir Balakayev. He wants to see wealthy tourists sampling 'The Valley of the Geysers' and the Laval Lake. With them could be a new lease of life for this desolate peninsula. Like everywhere in Russia, Kamchatka's future is precarious. But here at least economics is guiding it towards a post-Soviet rarity -- preservation of wilderness.
