Engine no 13, 'Universum' This is a combination of three Ringbom engines, consisting of 5 cylinders, 3 displacers and 2 power cylinders of which one is double working. The engine works in accordance with the Ringbom system (the power pistons drive the oscillation of the displacers). This engine is also made with a balance spring to keep the weight of the displacer as low as possible so that the engine can run on a tea-warmer. For a change I made a very heavy engine to show that the superstructure of flywheel, cooling plate and pillar (weighing approx. 20 kg) easily allows the hot air engine to rotate around its axle with 2 engines. The ball-bearing turntable has about 100 balls to enable it to turn with hardly any friction. A technical detail of this engine is the 2 engines are driven by a double working power cylinder; the upper part is connected with the right displacement cylinder and the lower part with the left displacer cylinder. The piston must fit extremely precisely in the power cylinder to prevent any leakage; otherwise the efficiency of the two engines will be very low. It appears that it is very important for a Ringbom engine that the power piston and the displacer are shifted at a relative angle of between 70° and 90°. As a matter of fact this holds good for all Stirling engines. So the key is to align everything very accurately and to take care that the linkage of the displacer bearing housing runs smoothly. Научная конференция «Универсум языка и личности», посвященная 15-летию МГПУ, была организована в Институте иностранных языков (ИИЯ) МГПУ по инициативе кафедры романской филологии факультета романо-германской филологии ИИЯ МГПУ при поддержке дирекции ИИЯ МГПУ, редакционно-издательского отдела и управления планирования и координации НИР МГПУ. К началу конференции были выпущены программа и сборник статей (объемом 14,0 п.л.), что стало возможным при активной поддержке редакционно-издательского отдела. В работе конференции приняло участие 65 человек из таких городов России, как Архангельск, Астрахань, Белгород, Вологда, Иркутск, Красноярск, Москва, Нижний Новгород, Нижневартовск, Санкт-Петербург, Таганрог, Тюмень, Ярославль и др. Кроме того, в конференции приняли участие два представителя университета Париж-IV Сорбонна, заочное участие профессор из Тель-Авивского университета (Израиль) и докторант из Университета Лаваль (Канада, Квебек). По составу среди участников конференции было представлено 14 докторов филологических наук (из них 5 заведующих кафедрами), 22 кандидата наук (из них 6 заведующих кафедрами), 2 докторанта, 14 аспирантов и соискателей. Среди докладчиков было 14 преподавателей и аспирантов ИИЯ МГПУ. Впервые на конференции были прочитаны 4 публичные лекции для студентов, магистрантов, аспирантов и преподавателей ИИЯ МГПУ докторами наук из Санкт-Петербурга, Красноярска, Нижневартовск, Иркутска по проблемам истории языка, когнитивной лингвистики, новых направлений в ...
