"Silly Love Songs" is a song written by Paul and Linda McCartney and performed by Wings. The song was released as a single and included on the album Wings at the Speed of Sound in 1976. The US single was released on 1 April 1976 and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The UK single was released on 30 April 1976 and reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. The single was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of over one million copies. McCartney had often been teased by music critics as well as former Beatle and friend John Lennon for writing lightweight songs and he wrote this number in response. Linda McCartney and Denny Laine are heard chanting "I Love You" during the bridge. Not unlike "Goodnight Tonight", another of McCartney's singles from the era, the instrumentation in 'Silly Love Songs' features a distinct disco flavor. Both 'Silly Love Songs' and 'Goodnight Tonight' appear again on McCartney's second greatest hits compilation, All the Best!. In 2005, the song was sampled in Jenn Cuneta's Come Rain, Come Shine. In 2008, the song was listed at number 31 on Billboard's Greatest Songs of All Time, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album was released on Hear Music on 7 February 2012. It has been released on LP and CD. The album's title, "Kisses on the Bottom", comes from the album's lead track "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter," originally a hit for Fats Waller in 1935. Said McCartney on the album, "I worked with Diana Krall, and great jazz musicians like John Clayton. This is an album very tender, very intimate. This is an album you listen to at home after work, with a glass of wine or a cup of tea." The disc was helmed by jazz producer Tommy LiPuma who has previously worked with Miles Davis and Barbra Streisand, among others. "My Valentine", the first song released from the album, features Eric Clapton on guitar. Stevie Wonder appears on another album track, "Only Our Hearts". McCartney plays acoustic guitar on two tracks, "Get Yourself Another Fool" and "The Inch Worm," but otherwise contributes only vocals to the album.
