FWT'08 was a great success with 5 stops around the world and the best skiers and snowboarders on earth competing for the World Title. Skiers Elyse Saugstad (USA)and Henrik Windstedt (SWE), Snowboarders Ruth Leisibach (SUI) and Xavier De Le Rue (FRA) were crowned Freeride World Champion at the end of the season, after the Nissan Xtreme in Verbier in March 2008. We went to meet a bunch of high profile skiers and snowboarders in the Lake Tahoe area this falls as they're preparing for the upcoming season 2010 of the Freeride World Tour. First on our list is JT Holmes, Squaw Valley local and world class skier / BASE jumper. We follow JT as he climbs up the Tram Face in Squaw Valley as part of his training routine. JT reflects over the past season of the Freeride World Tour, his crash during the competition in Squaw Valley, and his redemption a few weeks later on the legendary Bec des Rosses for the Nissan Xtreme Verbier 2009. The Russian resort of Krasnaya Polyana, near Sochi and the Black Sea, is getting ready to host the first stop of the 2009 Freeride World Tour. Mountains guides and organisers are scouting the potential competition venue, checking safety, logistics and access. Unpredictable weather and conditions make it hard to plan things much in advance, and the crew has to adapt in a permanent way. This is the Final race in Rotax Masters in Ocala Florida. This is a race of champions from around the world at the Ocala Gran Prix race track. There were 423 male and female drivers from 31 different countries competing in this FWT race. FWT crowned 16 champions in two different Championship series, presented four invitations to the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals, awarded $50000 in prizes with the Skip Barber Racing School, given away expense-paid trips for four drivers to the Granja Viana 500 in Brazil, and introduced new safety innovations to the sport. We had many new up-and-coming drivers and even a few current NASCAR, IndyCar and Formula 1 drivers compete. The on-track action was the best ever and more people got to see it thanks to the expanded coverage on FWT Live!
