www.ted.com What if every light bulb in the world could also transmit data? At TEDGlobal, Harald Haas demonstrates, for the first time, a device that could do exactly that. By flickering the light from a single LED, a change too quick for the human eye to detect, he can transmit far more data than a cellular tower -- and do it in a way that's more efficient, secure and widespread.TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http Теги:TEDtedtalkstedglobalHarald Haaswireless datawirelessdataLEDtransmit dataflickering lightdata transfersecureefficienttechnology

Continuing on from my short-range wireless redstone tutorial, I decided to do a tutorial on long-range wireless redstone transmission. This circuit is capable of sending a wireless redstone signal over VERY large distances (theoretically almost 288 blocks). In this tutorial I show you how to create wireless transmitter and receiver circuits capable of sending redstone signals on up to 8 different frequencies, since this is the easiest way to send the signals and I doubt people will have a need for more than 8 frequencies. Please note that I am aware that I was not the first to discover this. The earliest video I have been able to find on this topic is: Bakasan16's video: www.youtube.com Note also that I'm aware that SethBling and test137E29 have also shown ways of transmitting a wireless redstone signal over great distances but the former is a one-shot thing and takes up a lot of space while I believe the latter no longer works. Info Level: Beginner Presenter: Eli the Computer Guy Date Created: July 29, 2010 Length of Class: 12 Minutes Tracks Networking Prerequisites Introduction to Networking Purpose of Class This class shows students how wireless access points can be used to connect networks. Topics Covered Why Wireless Bridges Are Used Creating a Wireless Bridge Class Notes Wireless bridges can be used to connect networks in separate buildings, or inside of buildings where network cable cannot be run. You cannot use 2 wireless routers to create a bridge. One side HAS to be a dedicated Wireless Access Point In the Wireless Access Point set the access point to Bridge mode, and then enter the MAC address of the Wireless Router or Access Point it is connecting to. You can attach high powered antennas to the access points to make them work better. If you are going to use real time communication the bridge should be created with 802.11n equipment Теги:wirelessbridgesfornetworking5M
