HRH Prince Charles had a go at reading the weather during a tour of BBC Scotland's Pacific Quay headquarters. He and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, visited the broadcaster as a part of their annual Holyrood Week. BBC newsreader Sally Magnusson handed over to Prince Charles, who read his version of Reporting Scotland's lunchtime weather. The prince, also known as the Duke of Rothesay, gave a sterling performance in front of the camera, even finding time to direct a quip or two in the direction of the scriptwriters. We are shooting wild boar, learning top gundog training tips, and watching the work of the World Pheasant Association on this week's show. Team Wild's Ian Harford and Simon Barr are in the forests of Germany with the guys from clothing company Outfox and they are after roe deer and boar. Charlie Thorburn of Mordor Gundogs in Perthshire is explaining how to turn Muffin, the Fieldsports Channel cocker spaniel, from a bird dog into a deer dog. Tall order. And we are filming the annual WPA clay shoot in Hampshire, where we learn about monals, tragopans and Nepal's answer to Viagra. And we have our regulars: News Stump, Test Splat Special (how far will a .243 blow the lid off a kettle?) and Hunting YouTube. It's all in this week's Fieldsports Britain. Теги:huntingshootinguk
Want to stalk roebuck? Want to shoot pigeons? It has to be Scotland in May. We are in Perthshire downing pigeons in high winds, and we are in Dumfriesshire after Britain's prettiest deer with Zeiss professional hunter Colin Lockerbie. And as a bonus feature, Colin is showing us how to net salmon the ancient Viking way - haafnetting. Then we're in Kent after foxes with Sporting Shooter's Roy Lupton and Sporting Rifle's Tim Pilbeam. As well as the real thing, Tim has set up a lamping course for a novice foxshooter who is learning his sport from Roy. And there are our regular features: YouTube Round-Up, News Stump and Test Splat Special. You couldn't get more shooty. Теги:huntingshootingfishinguk
Last minute replacement, Brian Marr, fills a void in the Extreme Trials demonstration and shows off his riding skills to an appreciative audience... After torrential rain on set-up day at the Great Scottish Motorcycle Show, the opening on Saturday was dry, bright and inviting. Tim Britton was overseeing this morning's Extreme trials demo with Bon Accord motorcycle Club member Brian Marr who gallantly stepped in at the last minute when circumstances meant the original display demo team couldn't make it. Brian's freestyle exhibition will be going on throughout the day, though there will be a recognised session where Brian's skills will be explained. A very tiny trials course laid out with a massive log and couple of tractor tyres plus one or two traffic cones stands in for trials obstacles and allows Brian to demonstrate all of the skills a modern trials rider needs. Brian is riding Gas Gas, which is a lightweight Spanish two stroke, and very popular with the trials boys. At some point later in the day Classic Dirt Bike editor Tim Britton will be demonstrating the pre-65 version of trials riding.
