It is an adaptation by Bill Naughton of his own novel and play of the same name. The film was released by Paramount Pictures. Plot! The films begins with Alfie Elkins (Caine) ending a relationship with a married woman and getting another of his affairs pregnant. The film then follows his life for a few years, documenting events that lead to the character's emotional growth starting with the birth of his child. Watching his child grow brings out a more caring side of Alfie, including his having a health check in case of hereditary diseases, but his inability to commit to the child's mother leads to her marrying a bus conductor. The health check reveals Alfie has shadows on his lungs. This combined with being banned from seeing his son leads him to have a small breakdown. Alfie then spends some time in a convalescence home. Here he meets Harry, who confronts him about his delusion that he is doing no harm, and Harry's wife, whom he gets pregnant in a one-night stand. A CIC Video preview trailer of forthcoming releases from Paramount Pictures from 1986/87 celebrating Paramounts 75th Aniversary. Includes trailers for Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Golden Child, The Whoopee Boys, Gung Ho, Children Of A Lesser God, Critical Condition, April Fool's Day, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and Top Gun. This is my favourite trailer of all time and is really well put together by CIC Video, It is taken from my really old 1987 rental copy of Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning which I acquired in 1996 when my local Video Store closed down. Please excuse the audio and video quality as this video is nearly as old as me and has been watched hundreds of times in its 20 plus year life time. Paramount Pictures "Rat Race"

Jules created this opening title sequence for Jerry Zucker's Film "Rat Race" with only 3 or 4 headshot photos of each actor. That was clearly not enough to animated with, so back at the studio we recruited friends and their wardrobes to be part of a photo shoot. That shoot yielded enough photography for us to re-create each celebrity character as a "digital puppet" from collaged photos. This brilliant sequence of fun animation antics was the culmination of the masterful work of a whole team of great talent. Ranging from the storyboards of John Korellis to the After Effects animation skills of Tau Gerber, Eric Schweikert, and Jance Allen.
