No, Pink Floyd made top sellers and no ones saying theyre not true artists. so did the Beatles, the Doors, Johnny Cash, Jimmi Hendrix, U2, 2pac and ... you get the idea. dressing up as weird as you possibly can to create controversy and singing repeated meaningless lyrics that are appealing to the majority in order to sell a record is not art, its good business.Not the same as bands that integrated philosophy, history, humanity in their music .to me theres a big diff but lets agree to disagree

So if someone makes a popular top seller they aren't an artist? That's a bit prejudicial isn't it? I suppose if that was the only reason they were making songs then you could criticize them for not being an artist, but that's obviously not the case with Lady Gaga, she's a amazingly talented composer/performer. Well, maybe it's more obvious in the live/piano versions of her songs.

This is pretty much how I felt the first time I saw lady bits.

The dancing clown ...

The dancing clown is from the Betty Boop cartoon "Snow White." That section of the cartoon has Cab Calloway singing "St James Infirmary." The dancing animation is rotoscoping, where they filmed a person (Cab Calloway?) dancing then drew the animation over top so the movement is realistic. The Fleischer Bros, animators for Betty Boop, Popeye, and Superman, used that & other innovative techniques but never caught on like Disney. Jazz greats Calloway & Louis Armstrong were in their cartoons.
